I am so happy, so gosh darn happy after watching this film. From almost despising the original I would have never in 100 years years imagine that I would simply adore its' sequel. I am grinning ear to ear and my heart is full of joy, full of gosh darn joy, here we go again but so so so so so so, much better!
I love the young Donna stuff, with the young Harry, Sam, Bill, Tania, and Rosie stuff. I love the current stuff, I love it all and Cher is not the worst cameo to have, not in the freaking slightest. This film focuses on the beauty of circumstance and making the most of what you have, living in the moment and not regretting your past. We are mourning the death of Donna by celebrating her life. We are celebrating the present by seeing how we got here to begin with. Through flashback, through song, through dedication.
Everyone is having the time of their lives from Colin Firth's incredible dad dancing to Lily James impeccable performance as Young Donna, to Julie Walters performing her best slapstick on the sidelines. I am in love with this cast and I will be in love with them again and again as this film becomes part of my annual re watch list (after I have seen it as many times as I can in the cinema).
Go see if even if the original gave you a well deserved headache because you will certainly be missing out if you don't.
